I need an AVG exorcism! The problems with AVG started only after I updated it - I had the free version. Its like my computer wants nothing to do with anything from AVG.

I downloaded the uninstall programs (both 32 bit ones just in case 1 didn't work) to start them in safemode and again, a quick box popped up that disappeared right away. When I clicked it, a brief box showed up so I just assumed it ran. I don't think the uninstaller is working either now - or even ran before. When i turned it 'off' with task manager it would let me click the uninstall button again, but again, nothing happened. I only used task manager so I could see what was running it showed it on the list of programs running so I had been turning it off in the task manager to try to uninstall it since it wouldn't let me uninstall saying I had to wait for something to finish. I did try your last suggestion but because AVG wasn't running, I really didn't know what to do, so I hit AVG from the menu, and got nothing as usual. Choose Uninstall or double click on the found item in the list and wait while uninstall process is finished. Find AVG Antivirus in the programs list (you can use search filter, just type 'avg' to find it immediately). Our built-in antivirus checked this download and rated it as virus free.
The actual developer of the free program is AVG Technologies. As users see it, the benefits of this tool are: users like the UI, there are frequent updates, this program is complete and is safe. it shows up as a program in the list but will not turn on, or uninstall. Right click on the AVG icon in your system tray and click on Exit. AVG Free 18.5 is available as a free download on our software library. the AVG is not running, which is why i wanted to uninstall it.
Maybe I should start again with what has happened.
